I have 2 weeks left in my MoLo challenge, and I’m feeling run down. As with all diets and exercise programs, I started so optimistic. My goal was simple. I wanted to lose 10 pounds and learn to eat and be healthy. I really thought if I’d just develop the habit of eating right, everything else would all fall into place.
Sometime right before Easter I lost all my motivation. I was finding myself eating alone with a one year old, and unmotivated to cook for myself. Getting out and running through a drive thru was just too easy. Then over the last few weeks, I’ve started to feel tired and beat down. I found myself reaching for the Easter candy once twice three to four times a day.
And of course, the four pounds I was so proud to have lost has quickly found me again. I’m back where I started, and feeling like a failure.
Last night, I was looking ahead to the week, and I was dreading what was to come. Alone again until Friday, I could already hear the fast food and Reese’s calling my name. This isn’t what I want for myself!
I mustered up all the motivation I could, and grabbed the candy jar and threw it all in the trash. I started looking online for healthy lunch and dinner recipes that I could make in a flash, and began my grocery list.
First thing this morning, I headed to the store and did some shopping.
I filled my cart with fresh and frozen fruits, low fat pretzels, Laughing Cow cheese spreads, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, yogurt, and mixed green lettuces. I even bought some snack sized baggies to pre-portion my crackers and chips. I was so proud of myself for walking right past the soda aisle and desserts!
Although I don’t have much motivation left, I know I’ve got to keep going. To help me, I download the Weight Watchers app and am going to start keeping track of what I eat. Then I also found a really awesome app called Water Your Body that sets of an alarm to remind me to drink water until I’ve met my daily goal.
Getting healthy is one of the most important things I can do for myself and my son. Even though I’m not “fat,” I still find myself wanting to sit more than play, and I don’t want that for him. I want to be a fun and active mom and know diet and exercise is the only way to accomplish this!
So, if you have a little motivation for me, I’d love to hear it. As I trudge through the next few weeks, I’m going to need all the encouragement I can get!
